Filmmakers Keep 90% | Ethan X Evans Built The Indie Tube

What if you could distribute your own movies, keep 90% of eligible paid sales, and stop waiting for Hollywood, Netflix, or Amazon to give you an opportunity?

On this episode of Diversified Game, host Kellen Coleman interviews Ethan X Evans, filmmaker, director, actor, technology entrepreneur, and founder of The Indie Tube, an independent streaming platform giving filmmakers more control over their content, distribution, and revenue.

Ethan shares how he dropped out of high school at 15, faced the possibility of 15 years in prison, earned his GED, learned technology and programming, and eventually built his own streaming platform for approximately $20,000.

Today, Ethan says The Indie Tube has surpassed 100,000 users and expanded internationally, including into African markets.

Unlike traditional distribution models, The Indie Tube allows filmmakers to upload their own projects, build channels, access analytics, and monetize through different revenue models. Creators can retain 90% of eligible rental, purchase, and subscription revenue.

And here's something even better: Filmmakers can import videos from YouTube or Vimeo without abandoning those platforms.

We discuss what it takes to build technology, survive setbacks, create opportunities, and own your distribution instead of depending on someone else's algorithm.

5 KEY TAKEAWAYS

1. OWN YOUR DISTRIBUTION
You don't have to wait for Netflix, Amazon, or Hollywood to recognize your talent. Build alternative distribution channels and create opportunities for yourself.

2. LEARN SKILLS THAT BUILD WEALTH
Ethan used his programming knowledge to develop The Indie Tube for approximately $20,000, demonstrating how technical skills can reduce startup costs and create ownership opportunities.

3. KEEP MORE OF YOUR MONEY
The Indie Tube offers filmmakers 90% of eligible rental, purchase, and subscription revenue. Understanding your distribution agreements and intellectual property rights is critical.

4. FAILURE IS NOT FINAL
After launching in 2018, Ethan experienced a major hacking incident and had to rebuild. Instead of abandoning the business, he continued developing the platform.

5. AI SHOULD ENHANCE YOUR TALENT
Ethan believes artificial intelligence should help filmmakers become more efficient, not replace the creativity, judgment, and storytelling that make films valuable.
